Deb was born in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan but spent her formative years in Esterhazy , Saskatchewan (Potash capital of the world) where her Dad served as the mayor and local mortician. She graduated from the University of Saskatchewan and relocated to Toronto where she became a member of Second City's resident Company.During her years onstage there, Deb won a Dora (Canada's equivalent of the Tony) for writing and performing in "Not Based on Anything by Stephen King". She starred alongside Joe Flaherty in the critically acclaimed Lucasfilm series, "Maniac Mansion" (1990) which was hailed by Time magazine as "a comic gem". Deb also wrote for the series, a quirky satire about genetic mutation which was the brainchild of Eugene Levy and George Lucas. She was nominated for a cable Ace award as best actress in a series for her work on the show. She has appeared on "Ellen" as the straight friend who tags along on Ellen's first date with her girlfriend, Laurie...on "Curb Your Enthusiasm", she played the caterer Larry fights for the leftovers.She was the head of a gang of Lucy impersonators in Jerry Zucker's Rat Race (2001). In high school she was president of the student body and the editor of the yearbook.During her last performance with the Second City, the rest of the cast left her on stage alone and Scott Thompson (_Kids In The Hall_ ), staple-gunned the curtains shut.She appears on film in the audience reacting to the show within the show in three films: Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004), A Mighty Wind (2003), and Waiting for Guffman (1996). in all three films she is seated in the right-hand side of the audience.When "The Kids in the Hall" (1988)'s Bruce McCulloch & Mark McKinney were hired by SNL, Deb performed with the other Kids in the parts Bruce & Mark usually played on stage at the Rivoli in Toronto for over a year.Older sister, Shelly, is a picture editor who, coincidentally, worked on Rat Race.Younger brother, Kent, works in television post-production in Toronto.Has appeared in six films alongside Groundlings' alumnus, Mike Hitchcock.Supported herself by working as an assistant to Interior Designer, Thomas Schoos, when she first emigrated from Canada in the 1990's.
