Steven A. Watkins is the eldest of three boys, his father a Physician and mother a Music Professor. Born and raised in Washington, DC, he attended high school at the The Sidwell Friends School. His mother taught him music, trumpet and piano as a boy. A graduate of Princeton University in Economics and Politics, it was here that he also discovered his love and talent in acting, encouraged by a teacher to pursue it professionally. After graduating, Steven Anthony returned to his hometown of Washington, DC and "shed" on the boards, working in the local theater; his first acting job in Eric Overmeyer's "The Heliotrope Bouquet by Scott Joplin". During this time he also studied at The DC Shakespeare Theatre and took classes at Howard University with the great Al Freeman who recommended he audition for The Actors Studio Graduate Program in New York City. It was at The Actors Studio where Steven flourished both as an actor and a writer. He soon landed the lead role in his first feature film, "Inside/Out," executive produced by legendary French filmmaker Jean Luc Godard. Watkins has since played numerous stage roles from the title role of Othello, Off-Broadway to the stage premiere of the role of Zampano for which he was mentored by Anthony Quinn who originated the role in Fellini's "La Strada."Steven A.
