Born in Reading on May 3rd 1969, Mark began his singing career at in the local church choir and then at The Reading Blue Coat School following in the footsteps of his father, grandfather and brother. It was also whilst studying here that Mark fell in love with the theatre. Only eleven years old, his first on-stage portrayal was that of an Elizabethan farm girl in The Ballad of Saloman Pavey and the rest is pantomime history. Mark left school with only 'nominal' qualifications and went to work as a Customer services Executive, filling his spare time with local amateur dramatics. At the age of twenty Mark took on his first major leading role treading the boards as Hans Christian Andersen at The Reading Hexagon. This prepared him for yet another season as a Blue Coat, this time for Pontins, Jersey. Mark then went on to perform his solo cabaret act around The English Riviera culminating in a season supporting Jimmy Cricket at The Festval Theatre Paignton and winning a prestigious South West Entertainer of the Year award. The Stage and Television Today wrote on his performance "Britain could well do with another Matt Monro and maybe Mark Siney is that man". In recent years Mark has been juggling his cabaret and operetta performances with his West End Musical Theatre work having understudied and played to great acclaim the role of Monsieur Andre in The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty's Theatre, London and Monsieur Reyer in the German production at The Neue Flora Hamburg where he again understudied Andre and performed both in German. He was also delighted to understudy the role of Mr Sowerberry on the National tour of Oliver! again for Cameron Mackintosh and directed by Sam Mendes and starring one of his childhood favourites Russ Abbot.Mark's vocal and acting versatility has meant that he has also performed with The Carl Rosa Company and has played such diverse roles as Dr. Falke and Frosh in Die Fledermaus. He was also delighted to understudy Timothy West as Sir Joseph Porter KCB and assist as Resident Director on Timothy West's production of HMS Pinafore for The Carl Rosa Company and most recently as Kromov in their touring production of The Merry Widow. Other operetta highlights include performing the role of Sir Joseph Porter with the Liverpool Philharmonic orchestra.Concert performances include the roles of Ko-Ko in The Mikado at The Neue Flora, Hamburg, Sondhein Tonight at The Barbican, London and The Doctor in Du Barry was A Lady at Her Majesty's Theatre, London which was also broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and most recently his own tribute to the late Matt Monro, Shades of Matt. Recordings include the cast recording of Sondheim Tonight and the role of Mr. Merryweather in the BBC/Big Finish Dr. Who audio adventure Dr. Who and the Pirates starring Colin Baker and Bill Oddie. 2007 sees Mark create the role of J.C.Carnell in the New Musical of Houdini touring the UK in the summer and hopefully West End bound in 2008.
