Tom is one of 5 children*born in Michigan to*Donald and Sofka Ohmer. Raised in*Carmel, Indiana he joined the US Army after graduating from Carmel High School in 1974. He then attended Indiana University where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. His first taste of show business came after being selected to participate as a model in the IU all campus "Little 500 Fashion Show". When the motion picture Breaking Away started to film on IU's campus that summer, he obtained a small role as a fraternity jock and the acting bug hit him. He moved to Chicago, modeled and acted in numerous commercials until he decided to "go for it" and came to Hollywood in 1981 to pursue his acting career. He enrolled in several acting classes and shortly thereafter landed his first role on Dynasty as Joan Collins chauffeur. He continued to study and did several guest starring and co-starring roles on TV shows such as Love Boat, Murder She Wrote, It's a Living, Cheers, Young and the Restless and had a recurring role as "Adam Thomas" on the daytime drama Days of our Lives. Tom got married and decided to pursue another dream he had - becoming a police officer. He joined the Los Angeles Police Department and while there they used his acting skills to film several LAPD training films. After working the riots in 1992, Tom decided to leave the LAPD and join the Simi Valley Police Department where he became a motorcycle officer. His law enforcement experience has offered him the opportunity to perform as a police officer in numerous TV shows and films such as Forget Paris, Beverly Hills 90210, America's Most Wanted, Melrose Place, Baywatch, The O.C., Sleeper Cell and Monk. He has also filmed dozens of national commercials including Bud Light, Holiday Inn, Cadillac, First 5 of California, McDonalds, Burger King, Comcast, Eagle Eyes and Unisom. Tom divorced in 2004 and recently retired as a full time police officer to devote all his time to his acting career. He is currently an active Reserve Police Officer with the Simi Valley Police Department and was awarded Reserve Officer of the Year in 2003 and in 2005. Earlier this year Tom reunited with his college sweetheart, Marsha Dunfee. They married this summer and now are a family of five - Greg 14, Donald 11 and Rachel 10. He loves to spend time with his family, golf, watch movies in his home theater (that he designed and built himself) and ride his Harley-Davidson. Tom just completed shooting 2 new projects; the lead role in Marty Elcan's new short film Hit and Run and a new pilot for FOX TV titled Drive. Tom also currently has 3 commercials running (Kellogg's Go Tarts, Cox Communications and Provident Bank) and has a recurring role playing Sergeant Lyman on USA's critically acclaimed show Monk.
